about

Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.

Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
Must die unheard in
Dim Carcosa.

Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa.

—"Cassilda's Song" in The King in Yellow Act 1, Scene 2

Inspired by "The Yellow Sign," a collection of short stories written by Robert W. Chambers. The stories centre around a mysterious play called "The King in Yellow," the namesake of this song. The characters and story of the play are only obliquely hinted at throughout the stories. And so, this song is based on my interpretation of The King in Yellow... All purely conjecture of course.

A special thanks goes out to Joseph Owen for graciously lending his time and talents to help me achieve this sonic manifestation.
