about

Inspired by Baron Samedi from Haitian Voodoo. He is the prime loa of the Guédé family which are in charge of death and all things funerary. Yet, despite his morbid appearance and crudeness, he is also in charge of healing and resurrection. Ultimately, Baron Samedi is in charge of admitting people into the realm of the dead. But he is not without his own vices. He loves to smoke and drink. He enjoys the sensuous things of life as well as a good dirty joke. He is still largely connected with the act of living despite his psychopompic role. The idea being that death is a very natural part of being alive. Death may seem scary, but it is not out to get you. Rather waits patiently for when it is called upon and needed.

Similarly, the Death trump may seem scary, but it is more indicative of change. The old and worn out dies to give way to something new. Because the construction of this always means the deconstruction of that.
